Starting late 2011, I worked with NewsWhip Media on their web UI, brand and general User Experience.
NewsWhip measures the viral speed of news by combining the rate of social sharing and applying an algorythm, and so can give users considerable overview of what's just about to trend at any given time: this means that a lot of their work was porting their product to large news services such as the Guardian in the UK:

I was also able to create this short video for them which uses their CEO's voiceover and free web footage to create a very simple and impactful introductory video.
Month in and month out, we work together on the various aspects of their service - figuring out who uses it, and why in order to upgrade users to their paid service, SPIKE.

Newswhips' basic service - showing trends as they happen - is free to use, but behind it sits SPIKE, an application of the same service aimed at newsrooms and spotting new stories as they happen.
Paid subscriptions to SPIKE are how NewsWhip pays their bills, and so creating funnels that push journalists in the direction of paid subscription was in fact one of the earliest work I did on behaviour change / influencing strategies.

Meanwhile, as the application has expanded and the UI and general use of the service has changed, tweaks were also made to the logo and the somewhat wide brand palette which is a legacy of the initial product's UI.

This has included third party clients such as the guardian, and created video advertising on short budgets in combination with banner ad campaigns that have driven considerable free traffic to newswhip, com and considerable paid traffic to spike.newswhip.com

As I have worked with NewsWhip their team has grown and part of my consultancy has been to help them keep their general design cost as low as possible, and strategically hire people who can work inside my templates.

Occasional Data Visualisation work and illustratiuve / advertsing pieces also fits into workflow when required, along with basic consultancy on banner advertising, straplines, form narratives etc.
